About Us
Our Founder
Zahia Pty Ltd was founded by Zizi Charida, who has worked in the for-purpose space since 1999. Zizi has gained an illustrious reputation as a community development practitioner, trainer, speaker, and consultant. Zizi established Zahia Pty Ltd to bring together her knowledge and experience, and to share it with individuals and organisations around the world.
Working for local councils, charities, and a wide range of community organisations, Zizi has gained in-depth insight and knowledge across complex and diverse areas of community development.
Zizi is a qualified trainer and workshop facilitator, presenting in over 40 towns and cities on different topics and tools that support endogenous (community-driven) community development. She has worked on developing social enterprises and loves designing innovative community resources and tools that help community groups and organisations, as well as private enterprises, work alongside and with their communities for improved social and community outcomes.
Zizi is a member of the International Association for Community Development.

Our Team

We have formed a strong network of passionate, community minded professionals who care about doing meaningful community work.
Being innovative and creative is a key part of how we work. Communities are living organisms that require non-technical development to create thriving, healthy, and resourceful communities.
Zizi doesn’t work alone and often draws on the passion and expertise of a specialist team, which Zizi hand picked to ensure that resources and educational offerings are of the highest quality, underpinned by values such as integrity, innovation, purpose, and passion.
Our team of professionals have extensive experience in co-creating community initiatives and events that invigorate and strengthen community connections and assets.
The team at Zahia Pty Ltd have over 50 years of combined experience working in the community and corporate sectors.
Our Approach
Zahia PL specialises in Asset-Based Community Development and Appreciative Inquiry, both similar methodologies that challenge the deficit and service delivery model.
The traditional problem based approach to community development is limiting, disempowering, and can in some cases be harmful to communities – particularly marginalised groups.
We are passionate about creating opportunities that improve the lives of people and communities, creating the ‘soil’ that helps them thrive and flourish.
Taking on a strengths and asset-based approach when working with people and communities places the focus on what is working well and what helps human systems flourish and thrive. This is a key focus of our work.
